The single most common failure — usually a blown bulb that costs very little to put right.
Book your Class 4 MOT at All Vehicle Services, your DVSA-authorised test station in Sittingbourne. Just £40, with a free retest within two weeks if your car fails. Friendly, honest, and we never carry out repairs without your written approval first.
An MOT is the annual test that confirms your car meets the legal standards for road safety and exhaust emissions. It is a legal requirement for most vehicles over three years old, and driving without a valid one can mean a fine of up to £1,000, points, and invalidated insurance.
We are a DVSA-authorised MOT test station — site number S001858 — carrying out Class 4 MOTs on cars and light vans. Our test costs £40, well below the DVSA maximum of £54.85, and if your car fails you get a free retest within two weeks once we have carried out the repairs.
As an RAC Approved Garage with over 50 years of combined experience across the team, we do the job properly. And because we are a full garage, if your car needs work we can carry out most repairs in-house — so you are not driving around looking for a second garage.

The test itself
The MOT covers the parts of your car that keep you and everyone else safe. Here is what a tester goes through.
Worth knowing: an MOT is not a service. It confirms the car is roadworthy on the day of the test — it does not check engine condition, clutch or gearbox. If you want both, book a service alongside your MOT.
Before you book
Around a third of MOT failures are for things you could check on your driveway in five minutes. It is worth a look before the test.

Tread below 1.6mm, uneven wear or damage to the sidewall.
Worn pads or discs, or an imbalance between the sides.
Worn bushes, springs and shock absorbers — common on Kent’s pothole-heavy roads.
Chips or cracks in the driver’s line of sight, and worn wiper blades.
Faded, cracked or incorrectly spaced lettering.

Our Class 4 MOT is £40. The DVSA maximum is £54.85, so you are paying well under the cap. If your car fails, the retest is free provided it comes back to us within two weeks of the repairs.
We are a DVSA-authorised Class 4 test station (site number S001858), which covers cars, small vans up to 3,000kg, and most 4x4s and people carriers up to eight passenger seats.
Usually 45 to 60 minutes. You are welcome to wait, or leave the car with us and we will call you as soon as it is done.
We will explain exactly what failed and why, and give you a written price for the repairs. Nothing is carried out until you have approved it. Because we are a full garage we can usually do the work here, then retest free of charge within two weeks.
You can have your car tested up to one calendar month minus a day before the current certificate expires and keep the same renewal date. That gives you time for any repairs without losing part of the year.
Only to a pre-booked MOT appointment or to a garage for repairs. Otherwise driving without a valid MOT risks a fine of up to £1,000 and can invalidate your insurance.
An MOT is a legal roadworthiness test — it checks the car meets minimum safety and emissions standards on the day. A service is preventative maintenance: oil, filters, and the wear items that keep the car reliable. Many people book both together.
